The memorial rose's reputation is ever so appropriate for this holiday weekend. Known as the ideal plant for cemeteries, this native to Japan is known to spread grave grounds like a blanket with it's disease-resistant foliage. They were carved onto tombstones and memorial statues and stitched, drawn or painted onto framed elegies. Such a beautiful long-lasting rose relative to commemorating our heroes.

Marcela, Carolyn, Christin, Janet & Keula model their BoutiqueBloomsDC handmade hats at the Mingle for Charity event to benefit Children's National, hosted by Carolyn Delaney at the Old Angler's Inn. We're excited to announce we now have a stunning line of handmade custom hats - perfect for any special occasion, and especially popular with the seasonal horse races! After Keula and Janet made headlines sporting their handmade hats at Gold Cup this past month, we paired up some beautiful clothes from the Keula Binelly Collection, with some more of our hats on the red carpet at the Old Angler's Inn Potomac, for the Mingle for Charity event to benefit Children's National hosted by the lovely Carolyn Delaney. Accent don't overwhelm...When using blue in your big event, we see designers do it in many ways. The most important part of using blue is to accent with it, don't overwhelm. Very few flowers come in royal blue or turquoise, accent it with your lighting or glassware, or small accessories like in your place settings or linens. Bridal party attirePut your girls in your shade of blue, and keep the flowers neutral! Or pop some color... AccessorizeThere's many ways to accent your blue in your invitations, menu or place cards, party favors, cake accents, even shoes for your something blue! Few flowers...If you are set on using blue in your flowers, keep it simple, and tasteful!
This fire-red beauty was actually named through a contest for best entry to name this Jackson & Perkins Company bred rose that was predicted to prove tremendously popular in the 1930's. This climbing rose was just that. Photos of the roses were distributed featuring them draping over arbors, fences, growing up porches, and even won the an award for climbing roses in the 1933 International New Rose Contest in Paris. It served as the perfect warm and welcome decor to several home fronts and gardens. Blaze of Glory J&P Company later released a distant cousin to Blaze in 2005, "Blaze of Glory" a more coral orange climber rose.
