Behind the Scenes...

Janet Flowers Wedding and Events has officially rebranded to Nature of Design with Janet Flowers, and we threw an incredible event to celebrate. Last November we hosted "Botanical Burlesque" at Echostage in Washington DC to celebrate our success. We want to give you a behind-the-scenes look into our event and the fabulous people that helped make it happen.
We wanted to show what we really can do with flowers. Janet's vision of Botanical Burlesque was to celebrate the floral talents and creative technical abilities of Nature of Design into live wearable art. What better than a fashion show! We had our hands-on designers sewing, stitching, gluing, arranging and designing individual one-of-a-kind outfits for 13 models. Each girl began with a drawing. Fitted for their corset top, we then planned out the theme, colors, flower types and style of each outfit from head to toe.

The day of the event, we put the finishing touches on the costumes as the models were practicing their walk on the runway
with the help of the fabulous fashion guru and boutique owner, Keula Binelly.

Once the models became familiar with the runway, they were sent to hair and makeup. Our vision was whimsical, sexy and of course, eye catching. Each custom made headpiece was planned with a fabulous hairstyle by Marcella Uriste of Style Salon in Rockville, MD. Makeup was done by celebrity makeup artist, Josett Valdez of Josie's Faces . When finishing touches were completed and outfits were on the girls went off for their close ups.

The Venue

Picture
The hottest new nightlife and concert venue, Echostage was the perfect statement setting we could have asked for. With unlimited sound, lighting, and space abilities we were given a blank canvas to work with, and as designers we couldn't' have been more excited! With catwalk staging provided by Carey Hargrove, of Produce It Now! we created the ultimate fashion experience. Our graphics designer and lighting team at Echostage were an absolute pleasure to work with- we simply told them some of our inspiration, and a short explanation of each girl's outfit and our thoughts for lighting and they put together breath-taking images that added the perfect wow-factor to every walk, perfectly highlighted.

Not only did we have Echostage's incredible sound system, but our dj from Bialek's music set the mood with funky beats and electronic tunes you couldn't help but want to move to.  As more entertainment to enjoy, the lovely miss Ariana of Lipsology performed unique lip readings upstairs for our guests!
